From Tragedy to a Triumph

“See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”  The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.  Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.” Hebrew 12: 25-29

God speaks to His people in various forms through various media. He spoke to the Israelites on Mount Sinai through terrible storm, earthquake, fire and thunder.   Exodus 19:18. They were so terrified that they told Moses to beg God not to speak to them again. Some were consumed by the fire while some were stoned to death for touching the mountain. What a tragedy! However, God has chosen a better way to speak to us today which should draw us into deeper relationship, reverence and love for Him in our heart. In the opening lines of the Book of Hebrews, the Bible says, “ In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.” Hebrew 1: 1-3
The basis of the text above is that God would turn our tragedy into a triumph by shaking all the shakable of life and translate to the unshakeable kingdom of God.  Haggai 2:6. As we consider this topic we shall observe the following truths.
It is the desire of God to give a final shaking of every shakable using circumstance around us. The events around the globe is a pointer to the truth of the Scripture that God is giving a final shaking of every shakable. I will make the heavens tremble, and the earth will be shaken out of its place, at the wrath of the Lord of hosts in the day of his fierce anger. Isaiah 13:13.  In 2003-2012 (106,654) natural disasters were recorded and 96.5 million people became victims worldwide. In 2014, the number of people killed by floods 3,634 and storms 1,239 In 2015, About 150 major natural disasters affected millions of people worldwide in 2015. Asia again bore the brunt of these disasters reported globally. Floods continue to be the most frequently occurring natural disasters and also affect the most people worldwide All these are prophecies come true and signs of the end time. Even the man-made disasters and violence against humanity especially the persecutions of the Christians are happenings to awake our slumbering giants.
Are you experiencing any shaking around you? God is preparing you for a brighter future. All these shakings will lead to triumph here and hereafter in Jesus name.
