Holy Communion: A Covenant of Love

Text: Luke 22:19–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26

Introduction

The Holy Communion is more than a religious observance; it is a covenant meal that reminds us of God's unfailing love demonstrated through Jesus Christ. As we partake of the bread and the cup, we remember His body broken for us and His blood shed for the forgiveness of our sins.

1. A Sanctifying Covenant

The blood of Christ cleanses us from sin and sets us apart for God's purpose. Through His sacrifice, we are made holy and called to live lives that reflect His character. Reference: Hebrews 10:10, 14; 1 John 1:7.

2. A Sufficient Covenant

Christ's sacrifice is complete and perfect. Nothing can be added to what He accomplished on the cross. His grace is sufficient for our salvation, forgiveness, strength, and daily victory. Reference: Hebrews 10:12; 2 Corinthians 12:9.

3. A Sacrificial Covenant

God's love was expressed through the ultimate sacrifice of His Son. As recipients of this love, we are called to love God wholeheartedly and love one another sacrificially. Reference: John 15:13; Ephesians 5:2.

Conclusion

As we come to the Lord's Table, let us examine our hearts, receive His cleansing, trust in the sufficiency of His finished work, and renew our commitment to walk in love. The Holy Communion is a covenant of love that sanctifies us, is sufficient for every need, and calls us to a life of sacrificial devotion.

Key Verse: "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you." — Luke 22:20.

THE GOD THAT CHANGES TIMES AND SEASONS

TEXT: “Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.” Daniel 2:20–22 

Introduction There is always a saying that “No condition is permanent” Life is governed by times and seasons. There are seasons of joy and seasons of sorrow, seasons of increase and seasons of waiting, seasons of planting and seasons of harvest. Nations experience seasons. Churches experience seasons. Families experience seasons. Individuals experience seasons. Daniel declared that our God is the One who changes times and seasons. This means no situation is permanent when God steps in. The God we serve is sovereign over history, circumstances, leadership, opportunities, and destinies. The Lord had laid this topic upon the heart of our leader in this Association for this quarter fellowship today to remind us that God is still at work in His church and in our lives. Though the world changes rapidly, God remains constant and faithful. 

1. God Controls Time and Seasons Daniel acknowledged that times and seasons are not controlled by luck, human wisdom, or political power. God is in charge. There are moments when people feel delayed, forgotten, or abandoned. But God’s clock never fails. He knows when to open doors, when to close doors, when to promote, and when to prepare His people for greatness or breakthrough. Today shall be your season and time of solution in Jesus name. The Bible says, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 As delegates and servants of God, we must learn to discern divine seasons. 

• A season of revival 
• A season of evangelism 
• A season of greater commitment 

2. God Changes Difficult Seasons Daniel spoke these words while living in captivity in Babylon. A place of containment of destiny and hopelessness. Some people might have crashed out of frustration and disappointment, Yet Daniel testified about the sovereignty of God over times and seasons. This is a lesson to us that difficult conditions do not cancel God’s authority. But the God who changed Daniel’s story can change every unfavorable situation. The Psalmist says, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:5 

3. God Removes and Raises Leaders Leadership is stewardship, not ownership. God raises leaders for His purpose and glory. We must pray for godly leadership in our churches, association, communities, and nation. Daniel declared: “He removeth kings, and setteth up kings.” Leadership is ultimately ordained by God. Therefore, leaders must serve with humility, integrity, and accountability. 

 4. God Gives Wisdom to His People The challenges of ministry today require divine wisdom. Human intelligence alone cannot solve spiritual problems. Daniel succeeded because God granted him wisdom and understanding. The word of God says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God…” James 1:5 The church and the nation today need: Wisdom in decision-making Wisdom in conflict resolution Wisdom in raising the next generation 

5. God Reveals and Deals with Deep and Secret Things Nothing is hidden from God. He knows what you are going through. It might have defied all efforts, but today God will reveal the way forward in Jesus name. God reveals direction to those who stay close to Him. The future of the church will not be secured by human strategies alone, but by spiritual discernment and dependence on God. Daniel said: “He revealeth the deep and secret things.” 

Conclusion Brethren, arise from your valley of defeat and put your defeat under your feet for the Lord who changes times and seasons has never changed, He is ready to give you a new song and take you to the next level in Jesus name. You need to be strong in faith, ferment in prayer and cheerful in hope. This is your season to break forth with greater glory!

God with Us

Introduction

 The name Emmanuel is not just a title; it is a revelation. It tells us what God has done, what God is doing, and what God will continue to do. Jesus came not as an angel, but as a human born in a manger, wrapped in swaddling clothes. This means He understands us. He knows our pains, our fears, our struggles, and our limitations. Hebrews 4:15 (KJV) reminds us that He was “touched with the feeling of our infirmities.” Jesus came to save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). 

His presence does not expire but  He is with us in:

Times of peace and times of trouble

Times of abundance and times of need

Times of clarity and times of confusion

 God With Us 

The basic truth we need to know in time like this is, Whatever you may be going through as an individual or whenever there is palpable fear and trembling in the nation, people of God must remember that:

1. God is Present

2. God is Personal

3. God is Powerful

Isaiah 7 occurs during a moment of national fear. King Ahaz ruled Judah while Rezin ruled Syria and Pekah ruled Israel Ephraim. Syria and Israel formed an alliance to attack Jerusalem Isaiah 7:1–2. Ahaz and the people “trembled” because the threat was real but God sent Isaiah with a message of reassurance that Judah will not be destroyed Isaiah 7:3–7. 

The people were afraid, but God intervened—a reminder that He never abandons His own. You will not be abandoned in the face of your struggles and adversaries in Jesus name. 

How do I know this?

1. God is Present: God is with His people in times of fear No situation is beyond His reach. Though the kings planned evil, God declared: “It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.” Human threats cannot overrule God’s purposes because God is present.

2. God is Personal: He comes near in love to identify with His own in their real circumstances. He came in person to earth to experience what we  experience. 

At creation the original purpose of God was and is to be in eternal relationship with man. Hence, He deposited Himself in the man created in His image. However, the relationship was breached as a result of the rebellion of the man against the will of God. The same thing continues to plague humanity and had created a chasm between man and God. Thus the Bible says, “For all men have sinned and come short of the glory of God” Romans 3: 23. 

All efforts of man to bridge the gap had always been futile. Prophets were sent, angels came and laws were given to bring us back to God but to no avail. 

 God with us, a fulfilment in Jesus Christ. Christianity is not man reaching God but God reaching man. This season and it’s celebration is about a person. God is just above there waiting for us to return home but going out the way to come in person as a man to identify with us in all our struggles and futility. He has come to abide with us and taking on himself consequences of our sins so that we can be redeemed eternally. Immanuel is never a title of distance but of intimacy. It is about God’s presence as answer to our fear. He came through the birth of Jesus Christ to dwell with us permanently.

The practical implications of God with us are:

1. We are not alone in suffering

2. We are not abandoned in uncertainty

3. We are not hopeless even in death. 

The final words of our Lord before ascension is, “...lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world”

3. God is Powerful: God’s presence brings salvation, deliverance, prosperity and peace. God overrules the plans of the enemy. Human conspiracies cannot stop His purpose for our life.

Let us trust Him and see His deliverance in our life.

The Dangers of Costly Assumption

Assumption is the mother of most mistakes that beclouds judgement and leads to misguided and regrettable actions. Assumption is taken for granted that we know something that we don’t. We assume because of our imaginations, past experiences, or wishful thinking. Also we do it because we don’t have all the information that we need, and our minds like to fill in the blanks. 

 Do you assume God will be so furious about your sin on the judgement day and in anger throws you beyond hell fire. This is very costly assumption as God doesn’t need to throw you before you enter hell fire. The Bible says, “Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:” (Isaiah 5: 14, 15 KJV) (emphasis mine) 

Do you assume God understands your excuses for unresolved grudges against your fellow brother or sister? Do you assume your indecent dresses doesn’t matter after all others are dressing to their church like that? Do you assume no one sees you in the private where you are planning and committing evils? God is all-knowing and ever present wherever you are. The Psalmist says, “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.” (Ps 139:7-8 KJV) There is danger in assumption especially concerning your eternity in heaven. The greatest danger is that you will not have control over the judgement neither will you have a second chance to mend your ways. Delay is dangerous; To avoid the dangers of costly assumption, take the following steps: 

1. Be prayerful about every information and revelation 

2.Be precise in response to your situation and circumstances 

3.Be ready to forsake your sinful lifestyle 4.Be ready to confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour 

5.Invite the Holy Spirit of God into your life. He will seal you and guide you in all things even to the end of your life. 

 6.Join a bible believing Church where you can fellowship and grow in the spirit. As you take these steps, the Holy Spirit will register your name in the Book of life and you remain blessed in Jesus name.

Mothers As Peace Seekers

Seekers of peace are builders of nations. They rise in time of war and do not consider their lives for the salvation of their nations.
 “Follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man will see the Lord.” Hebrews 12: 14 

Felicitation

I felicitate with our mothers of today and tomorrow on this special day. Mother’s Day is celebrated today throughout the Nigerian Baptist Convention to honour and celebrate our mothers. Not only the living mothers are celebrated today but good and responsible mothers who had passed on to glory are remembered on a day like this. Once again I celebrate you all and pray that the Lord grant you wisdom of God to remain virtuous and dedicated mothers in Jesus name.

‘Mothers as Peace Seekers’ is our theme for this year. From the text above, your entrance to the kingdom of God is predicated on your efforts to be at peace with all men and pursuit of holiness. You may want to ask, how about the salvation through grace by faith in Jesus Christ? The verse in Hebrew 12:14 does not in any way negates the doctrine of salvation through grace; however, it implies that you can’t be at peace with God without being at peace with all men. If you have reconciled to God, you must not live a life that contradict the profession of your faith.

 Famous through Faith: In chapter 11, we could see the list of heroes and heroine of faith. They demonstrated their true knowledge of God through practical life of peace with all men.  They were hated, persecuted, deprived and ridiculed yet, they did not deny their faith. They became outcasts not because they owned nothing but their possessions were confiscated. In the face of all those provocations, they never fought back. Daniel did not institute a court case against injustice meted on him and the three Hebrews. Stephen didn't curse those who were stoning him, instead he prayed that God should not count it against them.

Charity Begins at Home: Being at peace with all me must begin from our homes. An adage says, “Charity begins at home” Domestic violence is condemned in its entirety. Women should not be seen as slaves or trash that must be treated like unwanted people. Those who maltreat, beat, humiliate or torment their wives are considered as void of knowledge in the Bible. Follow peace with all women and holiness, without which no man will get to heaven. There are women too who torment their husbands. They nag, abuse, disrespect bullying and even beat their husbands. Women who are subjecting their husbands to disrepute, violence and torment will face the same judgement as men who are violent against their wives. Make all efforts to be at peace with all men including your husband and holiness without which you won't be able to enter heaven. Romans 12:18 says. "If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men." In other words, the onus is on you to be at peace with all men. You are to seek peace with all men as a matter of responsibility. Rom 12:18 another version of the Bible says,  "If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all people." (NET) Proverbs 21:19 Seekers of peace are builders of nations. They rise in time of war and do not consider their lives for the salvation of their nations.  

I wonder how can you say you are worshiping God of peace and you are not at peace with fellow brothers and sisters in the Church. You can’t continue like that thinking you will see God. 2 Tim 2:14, 23; Titus 3:9; Jas 4:1-2; Proverbs 20:3 says, “It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.” Euodia and Syntyche are chiefly remembered as two people who had an argument, and their names are most commonly associated with disagreement. Have you ever wondered how your name will be remembered when you’re gone? “I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life” Philippians 4:2-3.

Conclusion: Do not be a nagging or bullying woman. There are women who even beat their husbands. Christian homes should be a peaceable habitation where husband will be craving to be. If your character is hurting, everything piss of your spouse. As you humbly and wisely submit yourself to your husband, may the peace of God rule your home in Jesus name

You Will Sing A New Song Of Victory

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” (Ephesians 1:7, NIV) There is nothing you have ever gone through that God can not changed. He can change your story from ridicule to miracle. He can redeem the things that happened to you, using them for his glory. The Bible says, “ And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Rom. 8: 28. 

When you think your situation is peculiar, the three lessons you must learn are: 

1. God Knows: God is all-knowing.and omnipresent. 1 Peter 3:12; Psalm 33:1819; Psalm 34:15-16. God sees and hears you; He will surely act in your favour. 

2.God Cares:  One major killer of many people today is carrying the loads that doesn’t belong to them. What God alone should carry, no man can carry. Allow Him to bear your yoke because He cares. 1 Peter 5: 7;  Psalm 55:22; Philippians 4:6.Instead of worrying about what you cannot do, sing praises to the Captain of our army. 

3. Christ Redeems: Jesus Christ replaces you on the cross of sin, suffering and shame. Therefore you should not give up. Galatians 1:4; Ephesians 1:7; Galatians 3:13; Isaiah 44:22; 1 Peter 1:18-19.

  Stop living in your past defeat and failure. Begin to see yourself in the victory purchased with the blood of Jesus Christ. As you do that. the Lord will put a new song in your mouth in Jesus name.       

Maximizing Your Potentials

Every difficult situation is meant for the lifting up of someone by God.
Everyone created by God is loaded and destined to reflect God's graces as deposited in him. This is a fulfilling life that glorifies God and satiate human needs. In other words, God is accomplishing His divine purpose through one's life. "13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."(Philippians 2: 13) This should be the yearning and aspiration of every believer. The questions are, Have you discovered that which the Lord deposited in you? 

Do you have a guide to fulfilling the potential in you? 

How are you maximizing the potential to transform your lot and other's in your generation? 

Every difficult situation is meant for the lifting up of someone by God. In every bondage, a captive is about to rule his generation. Joseph the son of Jacob, Moses, David, Esther, Apostle Paul rose to the pinnacle of their glory in difficult times. Except you beat the best, you cannot be the first. The only one that is singled out is he who discovered and is rightly guided to maximizing his or her potential.

WIVES: BEWARE OF LITTLE FOXES IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP (1)

Are you experiencing frictions in your relationship? Is your excitement waxing cold and you feel less interested and pleasant in the relationship? You may be suffering from this little fox to be examined here:

 THE FOX OF NAGGING

 Nagging is persistently annoying or finding fault with someone. E.g. a nagging wife. Nagging is a type of bad interpersonal communication in which one person repeatedly find faults in every action of her partner. Nagging erods the self esteem, confidence and romantic flavour in your relationship. Beware of nagging before it turns away your partner to whoever appreciates and build his confidence. 

 THE A-B-C-D OF KILLING FOX OF NAGGING 

 Accept who your partner is. He's unique and can't become someone's else. 

 Believe in him and boost his confidence Celebrate him and support him where he's weak. 

 Depend and Trust in God for changes where necessary.

Catch The Fire Through Praise

The two keywords in this topic are: Fire and Praise. 

Fire is known for its ability to consume, melt and purify various objects. From biblical perspectives, fire is used figuratively of God's protection Zech. 2:5; God's vengeance Heb 12:2,9;God's word Jeremiah 5:14;Christ Mal. 3:2; Holy Spirit Acts 2:3; Angels Heb.1:7; Tongue James 3:6; Persecution Luke 12:49-53; Affliction Isaiah 43:2; Purification Isaiah 6:5-7; Love Song of Solomon 8:6; Lustre Proverbs 6:27-28. 

Praise is the expression of respect and gratitude as an act of worship especially to God. In praising God you tell of who He is, what He is doing and what He can do. In praising God you proclaim His sovereignty, supremacy, superiority, immensity, purity, authority, beauty etc. What do you do with God’s holy fire? Catch it! What for? 

1. For Purity: We are gold in the hands of God purified in the fire of His word making us more acceptable to God and we are more usable in God's hand. Malachi 2:17–3:6 

2. For Power: The fire of God falls on the believer to empower him for greater task before him. Acts 1: 8; 2:2-4. 

3. For Proclamation: When the fire of God touches your tongue, it gives you the capacity to preach, prophesy and proclaim the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Isaiah 6: 6,7; Jer. 1: 9; 5: 14. The Holy Spirit carries the fire of God to be who God wants for your life and do his will. To Receive the Fire: Confess your sins, forsake them and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Praise God till you are filled with the Holy Spirit.

PROVOKING DIVINE VISITATION

Coming with Divine visitation are deliverance and celebration. Those are the proofs of God’s presence in the life of any man or woman. The mercy of God manifests in divine visitation beyond any human reasoning. When God visits you, everything about you changes for better. God visited Sarah and her story turns around to glory. When you experience divine visitation, your pains turn to gains. I declare that your life and destiny receive divine visitation today in Jesus name. Let us examine what you should expect as the LORD visits you this week 

  1 Reconstruction: Divine visitation can bring about reconstruction; turning desert to land flowing with milk and honey. Jeremiah 4:23-24, Divine visitation turns wilderness, barren land to a fruitful place. 

  2. Restoration: Divine visitation brings back lost glory, joy and every good thing you have lost in the past. Acts 3: 21 says, “Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.” Also, Amos 9:14; Isaiah 61:7; Jeremiah 30: 17 The Bible says, After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before” Job 42: 10. 

  3. Rejuvenation: Divine visitation is the answer to every form of frustration and stagnation in your life. After resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples and hope was rejuvenated. There was great excitement and celebration. For you to provoke divine visitation, purge your heart of all bitterness, learn to pray fervently and praise God profusely. In doing this, your life shall never remain the same in Jesus name

When the Prophet Is Shut Up

Whenever a child of God is shut up, many would think God is unaware. Unfortunately, Satan and his cohorts never knew that God is also involved to making such a child of God more popular. The Bible tells about Jesus Christ our Lord that, “Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory” 1 Corinthians 2:8. The kingdom of darkness thought they could shut up the mouthpiece of God (the Prophet) in the dungeon thereby shut down the plan and purpose of God for His people. Joseph was shut up in Pharaoh’s prison only for Joseph to come out as Premier in Egypt (Gen 39) Peter was shut up in the prison of Herod but he came out to do more exploit to the glory of God. (Acts 12: 1-5, 23) Apostle Paul and Silas were shut up in prison but there was an earthquake to shake off their shackles. (Acts 16) You will come out of the prison that Satan had shut you up and you will be greater than your former days in Jesus name. Do not accept defeat, your present predicament is not a shutdown of your destiny but a shoot up of new glory. Who is the Prophet? The prophet could be you; the prophet could be me. Every child of God is God’s mouthpiece and a prophet. We speak for God to the world. Today, prophets continue to testify of Jesus. It is said, "Prophets receive direction from God to help people navigate challenges and situations. In the Bible, prophets urged the people to repent and foretold of the birth, death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ." Jeremiah the Prophet was shut up in the prison of the wicked king. However, the word of God was not shut down. Apostle Paul says, “For which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned.” 2 Timothy 2:9. Beloved, your constrained will turn to your greater glory in Jesus name. What happens when a prophet is shut up? : God Speaks Up: the word of the came to Jeremiah…v 1 God Shows Up: the Lord said, “I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.” Jeremiah 33: 7 God Shakes Up: the reproach of imprisonment is distressing, depressing and dishonouring; but God is able to shake up the stronghold of the wicked in order to shake off your garment of reproach.

How to Handle Tough Times 4

Stand by the truth; don't be intimidated by popular deceit. No matter how bogus and beautiful lie is, a rugged truth will catch up and outshine it. Be honest and truthful in the face of tough times; you shall not be put to shame. "... Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all." John 18:37-38

How to Handle Tough Times 3

Without the cross, there is no crown. Closer look into the life of great men of faith in the Bible, it is obvious that revelations, visions, dreams, creativities abound in tough times. Abraham, Isaac in times of famine were guided by revelations from God. Moses in the wilderness in Midian, Gideon, Manoa, Daniel Peter, Paul and the rest were lifted out of tough time through these divine means of communication. Our Lord Jesus in His tough time while tarrying in prayer was transfigured. Tenacity is key in tough times. Be positive in your thinking that in this dark moment there will be supernatural illumination to lead you from the valley of life to the mountain of outstanding victory. Do not murmur; be expectant, even though your miracle tarries, it will arrive and you will celebrate

How to Handle Tough Times 2

Tough time is not peculiar to you. It is a universal language. Everyone has his share at one time or the other. No one is immune to suffering or difficulties.

Begin to see your tough moment as a season for lessons to learn. Your lessons will be for blessings. Be ready to take something out of your tough time. Learn a lesson that will get you tougher than your tough time. Tough time is not time wasted; it is a time tested. If you can stand the test you can stand to testify and so shall it be in Jesus name. No matter how tough or tempting is life, we need to come to God our Sustainer and Shield. The Word of God helps us gain some insights into how to live an authentic Christ centered faith in the midst of some difficult times in the journey of life. We need to catch the fire of the Holy Spirit in order to survive.

The Celebration of the Light

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12 ESV

Life is not fully complete without Jesus. A life without Him is compared to a world of the blind and darkness, full of confusion and crisis. No matter who you are, or whatever you have accomplished, if you are void of salvation through Jesus Christ, there is no other name given to you than what Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 5: 8 that “For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light” We are all created to crave the Creator, our Father, and only through a relationship with Jesus can the dark parts of our hearts and life brighten. Light is part of who Jesus is. The origin of phos describes how light makes manifest, evident, exposed or clear. Jesus said, “While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” -John 9:5 “There is no darkness so dense, so menacing, or so difficult that it cannot be overcome by light.” Being separate, ignorant, or unaware of the dark leaves us wanting for something we cannot produce on our own. We come to the end of ourselves in frustration, hopelessness, or an aloof sense of happiness and joy, when we traverse through life in darkness. . With Christ, we have the absolute fullness of life “The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.” -John 1:9-10 In the Gospel according to Matthew, the Maggie saw his light and followed it through to Bethlehem. These strangers could identify the light but Herod and his chiefs could not. “When they saw the star, they rejoiced with great delight. 11On coming to the house, they saw the Child with His mother Mary, and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.” No wonder when Jesus was born, great light shown around the shepherd in the field and there was great carol from heaven As we celebrate Christmas: Learn to light a candle in the darkest moments of someone's life. You may think your light is small, but it can make a huge difference in other people’s lives. As we work to create light for others, we naturally light our own way. Light is the symbol of truth Live by the light of life and your life will not be void of legitimate happiness. “No degree of worldly darkness can extinguish the glow of a soul’s inner light. Remain blessed in Jesus name.

GIVE HIM THANKS

    God is able to handle any situation as Creator; He will reverse the irreversible and make the impossible possible and you will celebrate in Jesus name. The presence of God will never cease in your life in Jesus name.

  Introduction  

 Giving thanks to God is an aspect of worship and especially prayer.  Prayer is not just asking but appreciating the benefits God loaded us with. A thankful heart is a joyful heart. A joyful heart without thankful heart is a wasteful heart. Give thanks in all things and see how things turn around for better in your life.

 The topic of this message is taken from verse 4 of Psalm 100 which says, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. (NIV) As God's people, we should always focus our thoughts upon the goodness and sovereignty of God so as to offer our gratitude to Him for whom He is and for all He has done for us. Look beyond your difficulties and limitations. There is a God that is bigger and stronger than what you are facing. 

To make thanksgiving a way of life, you must understand these basic truths: 

1. Know That the Lord, He Is God! v3

2. It Is He Who Made Us v3

3. Know That God Is Good v5

Explanations

1. Know that the Lord is God. Acknowledging God’s supremacy over all things is first in getting our relationship right with Him. The way you worship Him, serve Him and praise Him has to do with your level of knowing God. In Jeremiah 19: 23,24 the Lord says, “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let   not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich  man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am  the Lord...” Also Paul desires to know Him more. Philippians 3:10; 1 John 4:6-7; Jeremiah 31:33-34; Psalm 46:10. Giving thanks to the Lord is based on the depth of one’s knowledge of the Lord as God.

You can know Him by revelation. God appeared to the Patriarchs in the dreams, and visions. He still does today but in a clearer dimension through Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being…” Hebrews 1: 1-3 (NIV) The more intimate with Christ the deeper your knowledge of God. Through the study of God’s word and meditation, the Holy Spirit reveals God and His mind to you. In knowing Him, your situations succumb to His Lordship. 

 2. It Is He Who Made Us. God deserves our heart of thanks because He is our Maker. As a Maker, he keeps and supplies our needs. We enjoy peace in our heart and mind because the God who can create an entire heaven and earth also knows and cares so much about every one of us. We are not alone. God promises His presence with us wherever we go. No wonder He says in Isaiah 43: 2, 3 that, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…” (cf Genesis 28:20; Joshua 14:12; 2 Corinthians 13:11) God is able to handle any situation as Creator; He will reverse the irreversible and make the impossible possible and you will celebrate in Jesus name. The presence of God will never cease in your life in Jesus name. 

3. Know That God Is Good. Do you doubt God’s goodness? The Bible confirms that whatever you may be passing through, know that God is good. When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone” James 1: 13; The Bible says, "How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you." - Psalm 31:19 (NIV).   Give Him thanks because He is God. Give Him thanks because He is our Maker. Give Him thanks because He is good. Therefore, He will not withhold any good thing from you.  The Bible says, “For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.” Psalm 84:11 

Conclusion

 I charge you to rise up and put your past in the past. Focus your attention on the immensity of God and His goodness. Give Him thanks for how you overcame in the past; give Him thanks for the present experience that has not consumed you. Bless His name for in Him your future is secured. He is able to handle what no man can handle. Halleluyah!

Breaking All Limits

 Whoever wants to break limits must prepare for war. The forces that placed them on our ways are aiming at pulling us down

 Text:- Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;  I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. Isaiah 45: 1-3

Introduction 

Our environment, background, forces of evil constitutes limits on us preventing us from becoming what God has designed for us. This is why many accept their limitations as their cross. However, it is the will of God for all His children to beak limits on their journey of life so they can enjoy supernatural progress. The Bible says, “For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.” Isaiah 54: 3

Do Not Settle For Little! We are products of limitations. One of the consequences of adamic nature in us is limitations. We could not see nor understand many things. As a result, we are full of anxieties, worries and fears. But he who fears being conquered is sure of defeat. God’s original purpose for your life has not changed. When a Christian is dealing with struggles in life it’s not to defeat us, but make us stronger.  He wants you to have dominion over all creatures. When you fall down you should rise up again and don’t give up. Do not settle for little, God has greater things to do in your life. John 16:33; Judges 7:19-22; 2 Corinthians 4:8-10; Psalm 34:19; Hebrews 10:35-36; Psalm 34:18

Prepare for War! Whoever wants to break limits must prepare for war. The forces that placed them on our ways are aiming at pulling us down and will do everything they can to resist or discourage us from progressing to the next level. 

Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare for war! Rouse the warriors! Let all the fighting men draw near and attack” Joel 3: 9

 This is not a religious or physical battle. Christians don’t fight with physical weapons in the spiritual war. The Bible says, “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds” 2 Corinthians 10: 4. 

In Christ, we have the capability to pull down men's high-minded rumblings and attacks against our destiny. We can lay waste the imagination of man, and put to naught everything that exalts itself against the knowledge of the truth. The weapons are listed in Ephesians 6: 10-16

They are 

 the belt of truth 

 the breastplate of righteousness 

 the gospel of peace

 shield of faith

 helmet of salvation 

 the sword of the Spirit 

 As you put on these armours, rise in the strength of the Lord and breakthrough all limits in Jesus name

 

Don't Give Up!

 
If you will not outrun God because of the severity of your problems, you will surely overcome and enjoy the blessings of God.

God told Isaac not to go down to Egypt because of the famine; however, he should stay in Gerar. God promised to bless him even in the land of the Philistines and amidst famine.  Isaac obeyed God and stayed in that land. 

“And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:” Genesis 26:2-6. 

Isaac obeyed and God fulfilled His promise concerning him. If you will not outrun God because of the severity of your problems, you will surely overcome and enjoy the blessings of God. 

Gerar means rolling city. It is a place of incessant attack on God’s given vision and progress of the family of Isaac. As a matter of fact, difficulties abound in Gerar; but the reality is that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Your recurrent trouble will end in outstanding testimonies. When God is leading and directing your move, no matter how many are your afflictions, they will bow and you will lift up your eyes and declare, “NOW THE LORD HATH MADE ROOM FOR US” Genesis 26: 22b. The Lord is able to turnaround the hardest experience into perpetual breakthroughs for generations to come. In Exodus 15 verses 26 and 27 the Bible says, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God, and do what is right in His eyes, and pay attention to His commands, and keep all His statutes, then I will not bring on you any of the diseases I inflicted on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”

Before Isaac entered into his Rehoboth, he got adequate leading from God. He determined to press on in the face of oppositions and intimidation. Another important thing Isaac did which I will encourage everyone reading this message to  do is SOWING. To an ordinary mind, there are several reasons for Isaac not to sow in the land of Gerar. First there was famine all over the land. There was scarcity of rainfall and there was hostility from the host city. Even with that Isaac sowed in that land and in that year. He reaped in the same year in same place. This was so because; every seed sowed is backed by a covenant. It was ordained by God not just because you are spiritual. Jesus said, “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” Matthew 5: 45 

Whenever you have the opportunity to sow, don’t give up, you must be glad that God is giving you a Rehoboth. A place of enlargement and comfort. Therefore, 

 Sow in faith
 Sow quality seed
 Sow sacrificially

As you do so, the Lord God of the harvest will prosper your ways and home in Jesus name.
